ABSTRACT:
Surgical practice is undergoing rapid transformation driven by innovations in robotics, imaging, organ preservation, additive manufacturing, biomaterials, simulation, and systems-level perioperative care. These advances—often converging with artificial intelligence and improved connectivity—aim to increase precision, reduce complications, expand donor organ availability, personalise therapy, and accelerate training. This review synthesises recent progress across major domains of surgical innovation, summarises current evidence for clinical impact, and discusses translational barriers including regulation, cost-effectiveness, and implementation strategies.
